I just cracked my Pixel 2 XL, having it for just 4 days. No one can fix it right now...
In your teardown, can only glass be replaced? The LCD seems to be working as it responds well to my finger. Is the glass glued to the LCD assembly?

The same exact thing happened to me the screen cracked just below the mic on the bevelled part after owning the phone for 5 days...and it had never been dropped or knocked ever!!!
Same thing here, Rusty. Just got the phone yesterday, instantly put it in a case...pulled it out of my pocket earlier today and it's broken below the microphone...
Guys the same exact thing happened to me. I went shopping and put me pixel 2 xl in my back pocket. I pulled it out before getting in my car and the tempered glass and screen we're both cracked at the bottom near the speaker.
Same problem WID me..have purchased just 4 days before it broke..now I can't fix it right now
Hey Helen- You can find the display assembly from a few parts seller. The display alone is going to be over $100. Don't forget the buy the new adhesive to re-apply the display; most display DO NOT include the adhesive.

If the LCD display on the Pixel 2 is anything like the one on the Pixel, then it will be almost impossible the glass from the lcd screen. The LCD screen on the Pixel is paper thin. So, unless you have 1000s of $ of equipment and extensive practice, the screen is almost impossible to separate without breaking the lcd screen.

Yup wished i read this before i took mine apart. only had a cracked glass but working screen. Not even worth trying to replace.
If they won't let you have the broken part, SOMETHING IS ROTTEN IN DENMARK! (well, internationally really)!

Yes, UbreakIFix fixed it last week. They did a great job. Even though I paid the repair out of my pocket, UBreakIFix would not give me back my damaged screen citing a Google policy of keeping the broken screen. Kinda bummed out about this because i was hoping to study the screen further.

In Oregon I believe that’s illegal. A repair center has to give the parts back if requested.
How much did you pay for the repair if you don't mind me asking?
I paid $219.
How long did it take them to do it? I am going to have to do the same with mine.
Took them one hour.

hi how much is the cheapest repair for a google pixel 2 xl screen? my phone is actually stuck in a reboot loop because of an internal hardware issue it came with and i jut found out that my insurance apparently doesn't actually cover cracked screens (Asurion is a SCAM do NOT use them) and they won't help me. however, google may replace it but i need to fix my screen now or no one will help me (it doesn't make any sense considering the actual issue is one that has been proven to come with the phone but no one will help me with that issue if I have even a mildly cracked screen which unfortunately my nephew dropped and cracked...)
so is there an option under $100 to fix the screen of a Google Pixel 2 XL?
@Helen Saad - ubreakifix are the people to go to is the US for google approved repairs. Won't be less than $100 though.

Not that i could find. i ordered a glass replacement and took extra care in removing the lcd screen from the glass and couldn't even get an inch of it off without breaking the lcd. Bottom line you have to replace the glass/lcd screen. i found one online for around 250.00 somewhere.

Hi Dallas, I bought my replacement glass and tool kit before I researched this, but I figure since I already have it and I'll probably have to buy the LCD screen+glass next anyway, I might as well go ahead and try to remove it. If you were going to try it again, would you use different tools, try to heat it, etc?
Hi Maria. Did you go ahead with your attempt at a glass-only fix? How did it work for you?
I found this video so its definitely possible just alot more difficult but ultimately cheaper.
