Odd speaker issues after front pannel change.

I have a working iphone 7 plus with a cracked screen. It landed face down on a rock. The case didn't help much.

Problem is when i move the components to the new screen the mic doesn't work. i try to hold down the home button and talk to siri and nothing. I moved the components(home button, top ribbon cable, along with a square double sided sticky tape, and two mounting clear houses) back over to the broken front panel and everything works fine.

I have done this back and forth a couple times now to make sure nothing is damaged and i can't mic and phone working when i put in the new lcd screen.

I have done a factory reset and that didn't help at all.

Any tips or information on this? Do i have have a defective lcd/digitizer?

Just an update. The new front camera/mic ribbon fixed the issue. I must have barley damaged the ribbon cable when moving it over. When you pull up on it to take if out it can start to separate, i'm assuming it separated more then it should have for me. maybe moving it back and forth i got a luck connection but not sure. All i know is the mic fixed it.

I have an idea that I think might work for you. Basically, your saying that when the screen is installed, mic and Siri stop working.

Remove the old screens "ear speaker mesh" and install it on the new screen. Your ear speaker mesh on the new screen may be interfering with the sounds causing cerain functions to stop working. Transfer over the ear speaker mesh and that should solve this issue for you. If all that fails, you can then try a new screen but try this first. Let me know how it works out.

That didn't fix the issues either. Some time last night when i transferred stuff over the mic stopped working on both phones. Going to try and replace that ribbon and see what happens. I am wondering if i slightly damaged it and just the moving back and for it finally gave way... kind of grasping at straws here. I know there is a problem in this area but not sure what lol.

The issues at hand now is any time the phone tries to process or use the microphone it crashes. recording video, using the phone, siri just doesn't hear any thing that won't make it crash.

Have you tried a new front camera flex cable yet?

Not yet on order they said it will be here by the 5th. Couple days of waiting i guess. #rural america /sad

Sounds good. Update us when you get the part in. Interested to see what will fix this device.

Seems this flex cable assembly is pretty fragile on the 7 plus. It seems many people are having issues with the ear speaker not working after transferring the flex cable over to the new display. For you it happens to be the mic that Siri uses. Smart move on ordering a replacement front camera flex cable assembly.
