laser assembly not moving up

hi everyone so i bought a xbox from goodwill and cracked it open because the tray wouldn't open. I WD-40 the gears (even though i shouldn't have) and now the tray opens but the laser assembly that is suppose to move up to read the disc wont move at all and the tray ejects itself
