The radiator drain plug is located at the bottom of the radiator tank passenger side facing engine on my chevy silverado. Word of caution let vehicle cool before attempting to drain coolant, and consider draining by disconnecting the lower hose as quite often the draincock becomes damaged and will not reseat properly and leaks. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Helpful but unless the op has some sort of right hand drive silverado, he's confused. As the diagram shows and as the 3rd video explains the drain $!^& is on the driver side. Left side. You might want a bucket on both sides though because as the flow slowed on my truck it stopped falling into the bucket below and flowed across some ledge there. The stream completely switched sides in 5 minutes or so. I was trying to figure out if the rad itself had a leak, which made no sense, so I gave up and as I attempted to put drain $!^& back in I got the flow down my arm. Plugged hole with finger for maybe a minute. Stream falling from opposite side ceased.

Ha... You can't write drain caulk on here spelled correctly. It's illegal

Hi @dnllguajardo ,

Is the engine actually overheating or is the temp gauge just showing that it is too hot?

Maybe the coolant temp sensor is faulty or the fans aren't operating.

Here's a link to the repair manual (go to Engine Cooling section) for a 2008 Silverado (amongst other models in the same manual).

Hopefully it is close enough to be of some help.

Update (02/19/2020)

Hi @dnllguajardo ,

I’ve amended the link to the repair manual above so that it works now.

Here’s an image taken from the Engine Cooling section of the manual which details the checks for an engine overheating problem.

Also the word I couldn’t find before regarding the hoses is that they “collapse” internally under pressure when the engine is running, restricting the flow.

Thank you for replying, we thought the same thing so we already got a new water pump, thermostat, and a radiator, and it still overheats.

@dnllguajardo ,

Do the fans operate, you didn't say?

さんによる

Yes the fans do operate

@dnllguajardo ,

Being a bit pedantic here but what indications are you getting that it is overheating?

Is it just that the vehicle's temperature gauge is reading high? Have you checked the engine coolant temperature sender unit is OK or even the gauge, you didn't say e.g on a cold engine does the temp gauge show 0 (zero) or cold when the ignition is just switched to the On position?

Are there other symptoms such as the coolant overflow reservoir overflowing or the coolant level dropping due to a leak perhaps (any coolant stains anywhere on the engine or radiator etc - did you replace the radiator cap when you replaced the radiator?)

Have you checked the radiator hoses top and bottom to make sure that they are OK and do not feel too soft and "spongy"? Sometimes if they are old they can reduce in diameter on the inside due to the pressure and restrict the coolant flow in the system.

Like the hose is being sucked in and flattened out instead of having its' normal shape. Best as I can describe what happens ;-)

Is there an oil burning smell or level drop due to the oil getting too hot?

The gauge indicates its overheating and the antifreeze starts bubbling over, that radiator has a new cap, I will check the hoses today to make sure.

Thank you

I had them run a diagnostic test and they told me to look it up on line and it should have different sensors an to find the one that has to do with over heating, I have not done that yet. I hope yall can see the picture
