My ps2 game wont work it plays the beginning but then it stops and says please close the disc tray and insert the game disc

can you play movies on the PS2? or does it do the same thing?

Is it just the one disc? If so then try cleaning the disc with a microfiber cloth. If the console does it with other games then it may need a new laser
