it takes several attempts to start but once started its ok

It turns on with the remote, but doesn't turn off with the remote and there is nothing wrong with the batteries. This is something else I have noticed and still having to turn it on and off several times

Thanks

@retep1276 It gets confusing if you change the content of your question. It will be better if you place a comment of if you update your question.

I see what you are saying about the caps.

Might be caused by a faulty capacitor on the power board.

There are many documentation on the web about this problems with samsung TVs.

Here is an example:

@retep1276 unlikely that it is a capacitor issues since it does come on eventually and it stays on. It is more likely a bad power transistor on the IC's that cause this. Remove the back of your TV and post lots of high res images of the individual boards to your question. For that use this guide It will allow us to see what you see.

Update (12/05/2016)

@retep1276 thanks for the image. Any chance you can break it up and focus straight on the board? That way we can see more of the components. Top left of the board looks a little dark and maybe a browned label (heat?) something like this would be great

how did you test capacitors ? they look anything but good from pic. even a good esr meter can be fooled sometimes, change them.
