Can I use the display as a secondary display for another pc?

so, the motherboard of my Macbook pro retina mid 2012 broke, it's too expensive to repair and I'm going to buy a desktop pc.

Is there an adapter so I can take away the screen of my retina macbook pro and connect it directly to the video out of another pc? (i heard they call the connector that connect the display to the motherboard a display port connector so I'm thinking it is possible to buy or make an adaptor to the classic displayport connector).
