iMac 20" detect external monitor

Hello,

I have a little problem my imac detects an external monitor but the monitor has never been connected to what might be in your opinion?

Can you give us some background on what happened here.

Are you seeing a faint image of the desktop and its icons when you take a flashlight held on the screen at a sharp angle?

Do you have a surge suppressor or UPS? Did you get a power disruption or lightning storm?

not working have the same problem.

i suppose is an hardware problem

@mayer because if i go in monitor option have 2 monitor option

Does it still detect a monitor when you have everything disconnected other than the mouse and keyboard?

Try starting the iMac in safe mode; hold down the shift key during boot and login.

Let us know how it goes.
