GE Profile Tri Temperature Water dispenser E4 error code from your manual states:
Dispenser has experienced a sensor failure.
Unplug for 24 hours and let control to reset.
Re plug the unit in and repeat start up and operation adjustments.
Repeat if required. (( however, some failures may be permanent)).
Could be a faulty board/ sensor issue inside unit, have a good repair tech, have a look, diagnose and estimate repair. Good luck
I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Fault code E4 on a GE dishwasher means water has been detected on the floor of the d/w. It has a leak.
I have no leak on the floor and I got the error. Sitting here not knowing what to do
9 out of 10 loads result in a tub full of laundry and water that did't spin and drain. If I then set it to rinse & spin, it will do that and I can proceed to the dryer.
areston dishwasher display. e4
No it doesnt due to it's an overflow of water. I posted my experience with the E4 problem.
We just installed a garbage disposal. There is a knockout plug on the body of the garbage disposal that the dishwasher drain line attaches to. We’ve had this problem before and a plumber told us about it. This time, we forgot to knock out the plug and it caused our dishwasher to send a error code of E-4. Once I knocked out the plug and reconnected the drain hose to the garbage disposal the dishwasher code remained on. At this point the only thing we’ve seen we can do now is disconnect the power to the dishwasher to reset the code. So far no luck but we will wait a full 24 hours. This is a new dishwasher. I would be very surprised if it failed one month into use.

I did the same exact thing, didn't think to knock out the disposal plug. Getting an E4 error. Did your 24 wait period work after disconnecting power? I don't really want to take the machine out, attempt to drain it, and reinstall it.
i had this same problem. error code won’t reset. how do you get it to reset
Technically, the E4 error is not an error at all. It actually tells you, your unit is going into defrost mode. That does, however, mean that something has caused your unit to get too cold. A broken temperature sensor can also cause your AC to enter defrost mode.
Tips to fix-
It does not matter if you are operating a portable air conditioner, mini-split, or central HVAC. Your system is complex. Many components depend on each other.
If one is not working properly, the unit can quickly freeze. Older systems that lack current technology could freeze over and cause a lot of damage.
Ice can form on your indoor or outdoor unit, on the AC lines, and in the ducts. The E4 error code does not signify what is causing the unit to freeze or get too cold to operate without causing damage.
There are home warranties that cover mini split air conditioners and electronics policies that cover portable air conditioners. In hot climates, it is vital to have a way to cool your home.
Air conditioners usually break on the hottest days because they have to work hardest to maintain a comfortable ambient temperature. Do not get caught off guard on a day when you need your AC the most.

E4 unplug and unhook. Disconnect the overflow, tilt and drain. I unplugged the dishwasher, cleaned out all water and trap, dry everything inside, unhooked the overflow and drain remaining water out, plugged it in and it worked. Easier just to unplug the overflow and drain out water but make sure you tilt it to get all water out.

I had the E4 error on my Comfee dishwasher. I did nothing at all, simply wiped out all the water I could, and left it to dry. The error cleared up in a couple of (hot) days.
