Rear Camera causes heating.

Received iPhone Plus 64Gb with both camera's not working. Installed working 64Gb logic board. It would not power up and the area by Camera IC's started heating up to the point it was barely able to touch. Disconnected rear camera and the board booted up fine.

Replaced rear camera with brand new one. the board would not power on again and it started heating up as well. disconnected camera booted fine and works well??

Is there a short in this case that is going through the camera that is burning the board up??

There is a coupling grounding connecting flex cable from the rear camera cover to the logic board. I was sure that I had it connected but if it was not would it cause the heating issue.

Its certainly a short. Has this phone had water damage?

Google the schematics for the phone and locate the camera IC. I'd bet money that is the culprit.

Josh thank you. So I bought this iPhone 6 Plus knowing the camera's did not work. (The seller did not mention water damage and frankly I did not look for the tell tales). I had every intention of replacing the logic board with a known working one. I also replaced the rear camera with a new one. The board did not power up. put the old one back in and it powered up fine. put the new one back in and that is when I noticed the heating and disconnected the rear camera from the logic board. The board boot up fine and no heating issue. I am also suspecting a short but coming from the case through the rear camera. Is there any isolation between the rear camera case and the iPhone that might have been left out? I am going to take another iPhone 6 Plus apart and compare the two cases.

Thanks

Matt
