Is a clicking sound from a just installed new hard drive normal?
I just replaced my hard drive because it was making noises and it suddenly crashed, but the new hard drive is making a strange clicking sound every 8 to 10 secs. Is this normal?

That's usually the sound of the search arm going back and forth. Did you format the drive and install a system?

yes I did. I am afraid this sound might be what reads the hard drive and eventually might crash again
Try reformatting and select the "write zeros" option to map out any bad blocks using Disk Utilities from your system installation disk. Then install a system. If the clicking continues, return the drive.
