plug-in keyboard not working code 43

irulu walknbook 10.1 model no. w10, came with win8 upgraded to win 10

after a virus scan, the keyboard is misrecognized as a usb device. things i've tried:

detach & reattach

reboot, both with & without keyboard attached

device manager, uninstall all usb devices then scan for hardware changes

reinstalling manufacturer's drivers one at a time from website

reinstalling manufacturer's drivers all at once from website

the last one worked for one power-on cycle, then quit after next reboot & i can't run the setup.exe file again, as it now says there is a pending reboot for this product

i'm pretty sure there's a registry key or 3 i could delete/alter to fix this, but i don't know which one
