Unit does not read disc when inserted and displays error message as follows: 80010514

Let us not kid ourselves, hdd problem? Reboot, reformat and worst open up your consoleand clean the lens? Quick fix try a couple of other discs, if it will play and ilf still getting the error then that is the time that you will say that your ps3 is busted and you need to do all those procedures but if the error will only show on that particular game then it’s the disc not the console. Common sense please.

I used a laser cleaning disc to clean the lens... other people actually opened the console. Make sure the game disc doesn't have scratches and dust. If you still get this error message, press "back" (" o " in your controller, and then X - enter the game from the main ps menu. I did this and it simply worked 😆.

I had this error, I finished assassins creed 1 and had the game saved on my ps3. When I put assassins creed 2 in, it wouldn’t launch and gave me that code number. I moved my Assasins Creed 1 game save to an external sd card and Assasins Creed 2 then launched fine.
