How can you keep the camera from shocking you during repair?

When I was trying to replace the flash bulb assembly. The camera continued to shock me even though it was powered off and the battery was not installed. Are there any tips or tools that you know of that can prevent this?

@deagan you are getting zapped due to the flash capacitor still being charged. It's a somewhat shocking experience :-) you must discharge the cap before you work on it. Take a look on here for a great explanation.
