slow boot up on my MacBook Pro

My mac book pro 13", 2012 , version 10.11.3, 2.9 processor, 8 G of memory boots slowly after upgrading to El Captain. Has a 750 HD with 653.77 free of 748.93 gb

There are two machines in the 2012 2.9 one is a retina one is not. The retina uses an SSD the other a standard hard drive. Which one do you have?

I do not have a retina just a standard 750 GB SATA Disk standard screen

I'm guessing you are upgrading from Yosemite? Do you have FileVault enabled, this can cause slower boot as it is decrypting your information.

Is this the original hard drive that shipped with the unit?
