Why won't my camera turn on?
Whenever I slide the power switch from OFF to ON, the screen and the little green light won't turn on. No matter how many times I try to slide the switch, it won't work. What else should I try?

There are a number of reasons your camera might not turn on. Most likely you'll need to replace a dead or malfunctioning battery. For other possible fixes, check the troubleshooting guide.

if we are having a problem it is more than likely that we have tried the new battery option which I have and the trouble shooting guide , which I have and I still have this problem it wont switch on with the switch however if I unload the battery with the on off switch in the on position when I then reload the battery the camera comes on and can be used as normal. so why wont the switch work and is there anything that can be done my camera is only two years old it seems a shame to have to ditch it, or is this a manufacturers ploy to get us to buy a newer version.

I am also having the same issue, tried 4 different, including 1 new battery. All of the batteries were charged. This camera is a couple of years old and never dropped. Troubleshooting didn't solve things.

My Lumix TZ3 often either wouldn’t turn on or switched itself off at inconvenient moments, with the red no battery flashing light showing. I cleaned the battery contacts to no effect. With the battery flap open, I found the camera worked if I pressed the battery in. All I then did was put a thin compressible strip on the battery before closing the camera. Problem solved!
thank you for this however my eventually wouldnt work at all the battery would retain charge , like you say pressing the battery in and out made it work for a time but if it was switched off you would have to start again. I sent it away to the people who mend this make, They were extremely helpful giving me a quote in advance, it was mended and back with me by return post. yes it wasnt cheap but neither was the camera and I am glad to have it back working so at a moments notice I can take pictures without a load of messing. Similar symptoms can arise from different causes. With the packing strip I put in to keep the battery firmly against the contacts I can turn the camera on and off as normal. It sounds as if you had a more serious fault. My LUMIX TZ3 is an old one that I bought second hand for under $25. It was a case of mend it myself or throw it away. Good luck with your repair, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for mine!
