Stuck in Recovery/Restore after replacing the battery?

Okay, so I bought this Ipod touch 4G to fix up and use. Originally it would not power on so I got the battery to replace it (not from here). I followed the guide on here though and I could solder better than I thought I could and solder it on. Now my computer will recognize an Ipod in recovery mode and tries to update and restore, but it is stuck on waiting for Ipod. It will turn on though and give the cracked apple loading restore screen, but the bar never fills up. Maybe I have to calibrate the battery ? I'll try leaving it on for a bit, but am wondering if it has anything to do with the snapped volume power cable. Should still be able to restore it shouldn't I ? I ordered that part and since I'm a little more confident in my soldering I'll try that. I would get nothing, but I fixit parts and I have bought some and some kits, but right now I'm strapped for cash. Does anybody have any ideas what is up here and how to fix this ? Oh yeah I have Iphone explorer and it won't show up there, but does in my itunes, I also know about jailbreaking, but DFU mode might be hard with no power/volume cable, but there is a way I believe, maybe i can jailbreak in the restore mode and just put that firmware on it ? Anyone got any ideas what's up and how to fix ?

:/ Recboot won't do anything. I'm just going to wait till I can get the volume cable and solder that back on maybe I can get into DFU mode then.
