Steps needed to repair water damage

Hi, I have an iPhone 5 which has little water damage but enough to stop it from working. The battery and entire display assembly were dead and the indicator was pink. There is a little corrosion on the display port on the logic board so I think I need to clean it. Question 1 is how do I do that and will it affect any of the stuff (like the processor and memory) or do I need to replace it and question 2 is what else would I possibly need to replace or should everything work just as it did. This is my first time fixing this type of problem so sorry about my not knowing what's up with this. Thanks

Hi Ted

You will need to follow the disassembly guide, once you have the iPhone motherboard removed, you will need to remove the Heat / Metal shields and clean underneath them, general I use 99% IPA, or Distilled water in a Sonic Bath, they work well.

You may need a battery that has charge in it to test it after you complete this process, but cleaning it is very important. Unless you replace the whole motherboard with a new battery and display

Thanks for the response. I will try the motherboard in the 99 percent ipa later. I am assuming it is ok for everything on the motherboard to go in the solution too.
