Most teddy ruxpins do not have tape recorders, they only have a cassette deck. If your talking about the 2006 Playschool Teddy Ruxpin, it could be that the blue, green or yellow press buttons are damaged or broke, ether way you’d have to take it apart and see.

You need to be more specific- year made, material of cassette player, type of Teddy (There were 3 generations, not including Teddy IV) so that maybe I can answer your question.
