Why won't unit come on just keeps clicking
when I push power unit just keeps clicking nothing else happens, no picture or anything. Iread some where that may be fuse
steve beseke, start with the basic major checkpoints. This is still one of the models that may suffer from Samsungs decision to use substandard capacitors on the power board. Your symptoms are pretty indicative of that. Post some good images of your power board etc. with your question. that way we can see what you see and we might be able to help you out further. Capacitor kits are readily available. Of course, it does not hurt to check the fuses for continuity.
I had the same problem with my TV and looked online to figure out what it could have been.. Turns out there was a class action lawsuit and my TV model was part of it. I contacted Samsung gave them my model # and the gentlemen said my TV was covered..they sent a Samsung tech the following day and he reapaired it on site..fast,very professional and free...
I also had this problem with my Samsung 50inch and I changed the power supply capacitors; did not fix.
Checked input voltage 120vac,but when I plugged in the connector the voltage dropped to 55vac.
Checked zener diode VX801S and resistor RX801S(750K) , both were bad. Changed and the problem was fixed.
Had the same issue with 2012 model. Have a background in electronics so decided to have a look in the back (no test equipment). Noticed some discolouring around 2 pins on the power supply board that feeds the main processor board. Closer inspection showed that the plastic insulation between the pins had melted and they were shorting out (hence the continued on and off cycle). Cleaned the pins, used some silica set to insulate the pins, cleaned them and put panel back together. All working and keeping and eye on it re over heating.
Had the same problem with Samsung 55 inch. The the digital audio (optical) connector flashes intermittently as it clicks. Took it to a tv repair guy. He said he had the tv on for 3 hours and nothing happened. He said that if the TV turns on it may not be the power board. But the board where everything (inputs and outputs) connects. But said he could not find parts (probably because he did not know what was broken). Any of the boards cost $250 or more. Cost $30 for that advice. I took the TV home and it worked for more than 5 hours before the clicking started. Every time I had taken the TV apart it will work for a few hours so maybe it is a heat issue or electricity dissipation fixes the issue. I called a Samsung authorised service agent here in Melbourne. Asked for $160 for a home visit or $88 for me to bring it in. Without any guarantees it would be fixed. Anyway - don’t ever buy Samsung is the lesson I have learned.
mine just keeps clickin and the red light keeps going on n off like it is going to turn on n doesnt just keeps clicking n the red light keeps turning on n off
My clicking issue is on my Samsung Plasma 50" when I switch it on, it comes on for a few moments then the picture disappears and it starts clicking.
Initially the picture would come back on after I messed about with the on off switch and remain on until I switched it off then the same thing would occur the following day when I switched it back on. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?.
HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH SAMSUNG PS43D490 CLICKING AND RED BLINKING. THE CAPACITORS ARE SEEMS TO NOT HAVE A BULGE.BELOW I ATTACH THE PICTURES OF THE BOARDS.
have a clicking noise in my samsung plasma tv 42” model s42ax-yb09 , i change the power board and the problem is the same.
I also have a similar problem, and I didn’t find the solution so far.
Tv is working for some seconds to hours, and then turns off, tries to turn on in a loop with clicking noises.
I changed the power board (took months coming from Asia). Still the same problem.
Thought that this new board was not that “new” and suffered the same usual issues. So I checked the capacitors that really look fine (no bulge at all, no substance coming out..)
Indeed, although capacitors are the problem 98% of the time, I’m thinking that I may be in the 2%…
Digging and the searching the Internet, I found a guy with the same issue, with capacitors looking fine.
He found out that tv was working horizontally, and not vertically, and that was caused by the metal back panel.
I also noticed that my TV seemed to work fine without the metal back panel.
I remember that I could “feel” some kind of light electricity when touching the back panel. I did not worry that much at the time, as it is the same with my aluminium laptop.
Still, I’m wondering if there is not a kind of electrical insulation here. But I have no idea how I could fix this. And I can’t let the back panel opened with kids around…
Hi all. I hope this thread isn’t dead. I recently picked up a Samsung for free, knowing it had the clicking noise. But it’s a free 55 inch Smart TV so I’m determined to fix it. Backlight comes on when I unplug power supply. Not sure what to do next or to just buy a new board. Can y’all look at the pictures I post and let me know if you see anything funny? Thank you so much.
