steve beseke, start with the basic major checkpoints. This is still one of the models that may suffer from Samsungs decision to use substandard capacitors on the power board. Your symptoms are pretty indicative of that. Post some good images of your power board etc. with your question. that way we can see what you see and we might be able to help you out further. Capacitor kits are readily available. Of course, it does not hurt to check the fuses for continuity.

Ive got the same issue with a ue40c6510ukxxu model Samsung LED TV, I tried changing the capacitors with no difference and since then I have tried 3 other boards but still clicking and a black screen. Are there any other parts that may cause this issue?

さんによる

i too have changed capacitors and manually checked all fuses

さんによる

Checking a fuse to confirm it is open cct is not indicative of the problem.

and totally unlikely to be the cause of these symptoms..When a fuse goes open cct it is generally for a good reason example excess current & is usually in the psu cct and are of the 20mm glass tube or HRC type... their are other fuses that may be present in lower voltage cct's on the board but have a different encapsulation

Their are voltages generated by the SMPS that are lethal sitting in a fairly small area inside waiting for the unwary... just because you don't read about electrocution & death of persons everyday in the papers This a lot more common than YOU might realise.

SMPS 's are used in most ccts today rather than the Transformer of latter days that were cumbersome and inefficient.

I f the layman must search the internet for ways to try to repair their TV then they should realise the danger they face ....anyone can remove the back cover

photograph the interior cct boards and send them for analysis

さんによる

Thomas, you are not helping

さんによる

Simply: the following...resistors...capacitors.. (all types) .thyristors...diodes.. triacs... ic's ...led's...opto isolators...regulators....inductors... zener's...pcb...relay's....switches (unlikely)...dry joints ...cracks & hairline on the pcb's.... TV ... dropped ...or mishandled...

All this and more are capable of causing all kinds of problems.

I had the same problem with my TV and looked online to figure out what it could have been.. Turns out there was a class action lawsuit and my TV model was part of it. I contacted Samsung gave them my model # and the gentlemen said my TV was covered..they sent a Samsung tech the following day and he reapaired it on site..fast,very professional and free...

I also had this problem with my Samsung 50inch and I changed the power supply capacitors; did not fix.

Checked input voltage 120vac,but when I plugged in the connector the voltage dropped to 55vac.

Checked zener diode VX801S and resistor RX801S(750K) , both were bad. Changed and the problem was fixed.

Hi Kenneth

I checked RX801S by a tester it seems it’s open. I can’t confirm yet if the VX801 is faulty, so I’ll change the resistor first and see how it goes .

さんによる

Hi Kenneth, is it possible to test the VX801 while it is in circuit? If so, how would I do that with a multi-meter? Thank you

Had the same issue with 2012 model. Have a background in electronics so decided to have a look in the back (no test equipment). Noticed some discolouring around 2 pins on the power supply board that feeds the main processor board. Closer inspection showed that the plastic insulation between the pins had melted and they were shorting out (hence the continued on and off cycle). Cleaned the pins, used some silica set to insulate the pins, cleaned them and put panel back together. All working and keeping and eye on it re over heating.

Had the same problem with Samsung 55 inch. The the digital audio (optical) connector flashes intermittently as it clicks. Took it to a tv repair guy. He said he had the tv on for 3 hours and nothing happened. He said that if the TV turns on it may not be the power board. But the board where everything (inputs and outputs) connects. But said he could not find parts (probably because he did not know what was broken). Any of the boards cost $250 or more. Cost $30 for that advice. I took the TV home and it worked for more than 5 hours before the clicking started. Every time I had taken the TV apart it will work for a few hours so maybe it is a heat issue or electricity dissipation fixes the issue. I called a Samsung authorised service agent here in Melbourne. Asked for $160 for a home visit or $88 for me to bring it in. Without any guarantees it would be fixed. Anyway - don’t ever buy Samsung is the lesson I have learned.

I plugged the tv in without the back cover and observed where the clicking was coming from. At first there seemed to be sparks from many locations - optical cable output and some capacitors. Then I noticed a transformer (I think it is a transformer - big and square) and one of its wires was sparking. It seemed to have broke free of the soldering. I would not have noticed it if it had not sparked. I gave it a nudge and the clicking stopped and the Tv turned on. Now I have to buy a soldering kit and learn how to solder ;)

I should have commented sooner but had to see if the repair worked - Ifixit!

My TV does the same thing, although after a good five minutes of clicking and clicking and not turning on, it finally does. I called Samsung last night, and the representative asked me to unplug the TV. It worked! but only last night. Today it went back to clicking and clicking and not turning on, at least for seven minutes this time. I'm afraid it won't turn on at all next time I want to watch TV. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?.

We have a 2008 Samsung hpd5053 model that was clicking for a long time before coming on. Finally it would just cut off during a recorded movie. Hubby took off back, looked at part number on power supply board. I found a used one online for $60.00. he replaced it and the clicking stopped and the tv came on! Yeah! Hope it last! It is best to take a picture of your power supply board and make sure what you order looks exactly the same. I would rathe fix than put in the landfield. It has had no problems for 14 years. It might outlast us!

My clicking issue is on my Samsung Plasma 50" when I switch it on, it comes on for a few moments then the picture disappears and it starts clicking.

Initially the picture would come back on after I messed about with the on off switch and remain on until I switched it off then the same thing would occur the following day when I switched it back on. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?.

I also have a similar problem, and I didn’t find the solution so far.

Tv is working for some seconds to hours, and then turns off, tries to turn on in a loop with clicking noises.

I changed the power board (took months coming from Asia). Still the same problem.

Thought that this new board was not that “new” and suffered the same usual issues. So I checked the capacitors that really look fine (no bulge at all, no substance coming out..)

Indeed, although capacitors are the problem 98% of the time, I’m thinking that I may be in the 2%…

Digging and the searching the Internet, I found a guy with the same issue, with capacitors looking fine.

He found out that tv was working horizontally, and not vertically, and that was caused by the metal back panel.

I also noticed that my TV seemed to work fine without the metal back panel.

I remember that I could “feel” some kind of light electricity when touching the back panel. I did not worry that much at the time, as it is the same with my aluminium laptop.

Still, I’m wondering if there is not a kind of electrical insulation here. But I have no idea how I could fix this. And I can’t let the back panel opened with kids around…

Hi all. I hope this thread isn’t dead. I recently picked up a Samsung for free, knowing it had the clicking noise. But it’s a free 55 inch Smart TV so I’m determined to fix it. Backlight comes on when I unplug power supply. Not sure what to do next or to just buy a new board. Can y’all look at the pictures I post and let me know if you see anything funny? Thank you so much.

I was never able to fix it. I think the only solution was to replace one of the boards but the cost was almost equal to newer and lighter tv. The other thing was if i turned it on and off a few times it eventually came on.

Hi I have the same issue with a BenQ zowie xl 2540. I replaced some blown parts on the smps that popped on the back of the monitor but I think the clicking was the original problem it’s coming from the interface board it’s sending a solid 12v to it but idk what to do next
