Designed as a low cost tablet for students in India Datawind's Ubislate 7CI sells for about $35, with the price subsidized by the government. The device is 7.2 by 4.8 by .4 inches (HWD) and weighs 11.2 ounces.

Would it be possible to add an IR blaster to this device?

I was just wondering if the hardware is present so the device could be modified for use as a big ol' touchscreen remote?

Nope. Mine broke, so I popped it apart for parts. The board is very cheaply manafactuared, and the CPU pins are SUPER close to each other.
