Replaced power/lock switch and ribbon cable now phone won't boot.

Initially the problem was that device was constantly needing to be connected to iTunes. Did this and tried to update and then restore the device but kept getting errors. Replaced battery and was able to restore the device to factory setting. The device now worked perfectly except for power button. It made no clicking sound and was difficult to power off. Also could no longer connect to Tracfone network. Replaced switch but it wasn't seated correctly and would still not click. Worse, the the display was now black. Backlight still worked, iTunes was playing a song that I couldn't turn off, vibrator worked when turning on the mute switch. Replaced the power/mute switch again. This time seated it correctly and it now clicks but nothing else works. no display, no backlight, nothing. Tried reseating and cleaning connectors with alcohol, tried hard reset with devise plugged into wall charger, Now it pings about every 10 seconds or so but that's all it will do. Tried to connect to iTunes but get an error. Don't know what else to try. Any ideas?
