Grey screen when turned on, what should I do?

I have a (European) Pal Super Nintendo. It has been in storage for at least 10 years. When I switch it on I still get a black screen. Now and again grey will fade in and out and when I reset it flickers, so I know that the tv is picking up something! Oh, and the snes power light is on as normal.

Is it a lost cause? Or is there a fix?
