3.5” HDD 5 Volt sensor reports zero with TechTools

3.5” HDD Thermal Sensor iMac 21.5-inch Late 2013

New TechTools has a sensor test. My Hard drive comes back with zero volts and says the test failed. Any Ideas if this is truly a problem?

I’m not having problems. Running TTP 8 off of my main drive. TTP support had no answer. Apple Support had no answer other than take the iMac in for testing. I was just wondering if anyone had an answer before I lugged the iMac in for testing. I do have Apple Care.

If you have AppleCare, get it in before it expires!

I have had this issue with two identical late 2103 models but what I can’t figure out is, if no power is getting to my newly replaced SSDs, how are they working? Have I stumbled upon a way of supplying power to solid state drives from thin air?!

I think this is a false warning but it would useful to know what Micromat makes of it. I was using Techtool Pro 12 when I first experienced this but EtreCheckPro didn’t pick anything up and as the machine seemed to be working fast with no apparent problems, I let it go.

Micromat's TechTool is a useful tool, but using the onboard diagnostics is what I would start with.

I've seen other wacky errors with it. Often an updated version would address the issue.

There doesn't appear to be a guide for the 2013 machine yet but there is for the 2012:

iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2544

Is the machine running? Are you having problems? What version of TTP are you using? Were you booted from TTP or running off the hard drive?

Our iMac stuff is a little confusing, since we title them by EMC number, EMC 2638 is the Late 2013 model. =)
