Can I replace my nexus 6 screen without replacing the LCD?

Bought my nexus 6 in January and I recently dropped in on Monday morning to be exact. All I need to do replace the glass and not the LCD. Is there a guide on how to replace the glass without replacing the whole LCD glass combination?

I had the exact same question for two weeks now.

and from what i have found on the internet so far:

You would need a special heating plate to reach a even temperature of 83-87 Celsius to the glass to melt the glue while separating the glass with a thin wire. risk of breaking the screen with too much heat and stress from wire is just not worth it.

I just ordered my screen here: http://www.globaldirectparts.com/OEM-Mot...

Its possible.

You will be going really slowly with a heat gun and plastic card/ wire.

You will also have to be very careful from bending it.

I could never find a good guide online for doing this and I haven’t been able to find a correct temperature, I managed to do this first time without any issues, with some trial and error. If you have time on your hand an easy 100 degrees C works perfectly but will take you a while, however it gets rid of the risk of the glue not being hot enough and damaging the display. If you are impatient like myself a hot air gun set to 120 degrees C works better. However if you put it on too long it will burn the LCD best thing is to leave it on an area near the wire you are using to cut the glue (0.08mm wire seems to work well) and count quickly to about 7-10 seconds not too long to damage the LCD but enough to cut the glue, it actually cuts like butter :) then it’s just doing that each time it gets hard to pull. With a hot air gun and wire took me 30 minutes with a screen with around 10-12 cracks

I will say compared to doing an iPad heating up to 80, some soldering and gluing for some models, this is a lot harder haha

It is possible to replace just the front glass without the replacing the whole lcd screen unit. But it is very difficult. There are 101 ways to screw it up if you are a novice, and the whole LCD unit replacement will cost around $200. I would rather leave it to the professionals and save a lot of headaches. You can get it repaired for a very reasonable deal here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nexus-6-Motorola...
