Responding Slow when opening an application

There is this day I was installing the Logos software, since I have a slow internet connection, I left the computer downloading the software the whole night. In the morning, I found the Logos was completely installed. However, the computer started running very slow. When you click anything, it will take 15 to 20 seconds and at a time more than that to open.

I upgraded to Yosemite, and it still does the same thing. I upgraded the RAM from 8Gb to 16Gb, it still does the same thing. Unfortunately, I took it to Office Max for diagnosis, they failed and I got it back, my MacBook Pro no longer have the operating system. Am trying to load OX Leopard I have, it is not responding.

Is any suggestion out there?

Computer slowdowns can be traced back to either Hardware (failing drives) or software (corrupt flew) as sources.

Often strange behavior can be solved by deleting the User/Library/Preferences/ .plist file(s) with the applications name in it. Cache files from the same location could be corrupt. That the files took a long time to download might be a checksum error (corrupt files again).

Corrupt fonts and not enough free space or fragmented HDs can also cause freezing, lagging or slowness.

Adding a new peripheral or having peripherals connected can slow computers.

Sometimes creating a new user account will expunge the corrupt files… in which case extreme care and time in moving back a few "must have" files from the bad account at time may point out the culprit.
