ZTE Majesty red screen after replacement. How do I fix it?

Hello, I have just replaced the screen and digitizer in my ZTE Majesty Z796c. The replacement screen is brand new, all of the cables look good and yes, they are connected properly. When powering up the phone, the loading screen does not show. The back, home, and menu buttons light up. At first the screen is black and I am able to unlock the phone. If I push the power button to lock the phone, then push it again to unlock, I get a red screen with 5 lines on it. Why is this happening? Thank you.
