How do I get to them without taking apart the printer.

The ink cartridges can be located beneath the scanning unit cover. Lift the scanning unit cover ensuring that the scanning unit support is properly in place. Allow the printer to position the ink cartridges in the removal position. The ink cartridges have been located.
