Why aren't some of the keys on my laptop working?

Recently some of the keys on my IdeaPad U350's keyboard have stopped working, but most of them are still functioning just fine. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this?

There are a few things which could cause this issue. The most likely cause is a broken keyboard, which will need to be replaced. Another possibility is that the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard is making an incomplete connection. Re-connecting it may fix the issue. Finally, the least-likely possibility is that there's a problem with your motherboard.

Was the keyboard that you attached working on a smart tv or a different PC? (or any peripheral that supports an external keyboard)

It's possible you just have a bit of dirt, lint, or some other contaminant underneath a few of the keys. Try blowing them out with compressed air before you look into replacing keyboards or other components. If the individual keys can be removed on your particular model, carefully pry them up and wipe down the contacts with isopropyl alcohol. Allow them to dry before you reassemble. If neither of those things helps, look into some of the culprits that James mentioned.
