Interchangeable Memory Chipsets? (Late 2005) Model - 2.3GHZ DC

Hi all -

Just wanted to inquire if anyone knew why my PM G5 (Late 2005) Model - 2.3GHZ DC is downgrading a pair of DDR2 2GB (240pin) 667MHz PC6400 to 3200 with 288MHz? This machine calls for DDR2 444MHz 4200 (the rest of my chipsets are this). I figured that by putting a "faster" chipset in, it just meant I wouldn't be able to utilize it's full abilities (would register as a 444MHz 42000). Why am I losing more than that?

Thanks

All the Mac Pros that I've worked with are very, very picky about using only the correct RAM sets and only in the correct slots. Refer to my previous answer: Memory upgrade: Kingston or Kingston Apple?
