What are the hardware differences between model A1522 and A1524

I am curious as to what chips are different because it seems like a1524 just has more lte bands from the tech specs on Apple's website.

There are four models of the iPhone 6 Plus phone (I've only listed the ones you will likely see). Different countries have different cellular networks. Per EveryMac:

  • The Sprint/Global model supports - A1524 "CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz), UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz), TD-SCDMA 1900 (F), 2000 (A), GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29), [and] TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40, 41)."
  • The CDMA/Verizon model supports - A1687 "UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz), GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), [and] LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29)."
  • The GSM/North American model supports - A1522 "UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz), GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), [and] LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29)."

As far as the chips involved:

  • Qualcomm MDM9625M LTE Modem
  • Skyworks 77802-23 Low Band LTE PAD
  • Avago A8020 High Band PAD
  • Avago A8010 Ultra High Band PA + FBARs
  • TriQuint TQF6410 3G EDGE Power Amplifier Module

Depending on the model one or more of these chips are different to cover the different bands. As the IFIXIT crew flew to Australia to crack open the very first available units I suspect models they took apart was the Sprint/Global (I could be wrong).

I guess I am actually wondering if there is a hardware difference at all between a1522 and a1524 because it seems odd that they would have two models if they just added four lte bands to the global/ Sprint version. I think the hardware for the Verizon /att/t-mobile is all the same (a1522), unless I am mistaken.

A1522 and A1524 use the same firmware, it's a reason to believe they use the same hardware.

However I saw in the iPhone 5s circuit diagram that there are different PA ID resistors for the same models, maybe it's just a BOM option thing or they actually use these resistors to lock out different network configs.

I guess you should send the A1624

I am using one in Uganda (East Africa) and it has worked well through Asia and the Middle East.

I'm using CDMA/Verizon iPhone 6 Plus 128GB, all the IPSW files I have down loaded so far are not compatible with mine.

Is there any place I can find my specific CDMA/Verizon 6 Plus 128GB IPSW file to download?

My model number is A1522 and MGCN2LL/A

Thanks, SAK

I am from central Asia and today I saw a new Iphone 6+, but its demo version with sim-slot. They are selling it for cheap price. So, I am curious is it possible to make it normal one and use it?

See if a friend of yours who has an iPhone will let you borrow their SIM to put into this phone. Once the SIM is in place your phone should work, if not it is either not compatible to your carriers services in your area or is locked out as it was likely stolen.

I see on YouTube how they switch chips to do a hardware iCloud unlock. My question is if I can take the chips from an T-Mobile iPhone 6 and use them on an Sprint iPhone 6 Plus? Any thoughts or ideas would be great.
