The screen on my Laptop just stopped working, with no warning. the computer is on but the screen is black and won't even project on and external monitor. Is this fixable or is it just done?

Do you know if it has a graphics card, or just a graphics accelerator on the motherboard?
If it has a separate graphics card, and if the laptop supports it, it can potentially be replaced. You should check the laptops specs and documentation.
If it just uses an on board graphics accelerator, then the issue is a bit more severe, I don't know what Toshiba's replacement part availability is, but you may be out of luck if this is the case.
