After keyboard replacement, screen won't turn on.

I had some water damage on my keyboard which resulted in the letters Q, W, and E to stop working. I bought a replacement keyboard and followed the guide and everything went well... until I turned on the MacBook. It seems that the laptop powers on- I hear the welcome sound, the keyboard backlight can be adjusted, and the CAPS Lock light can turn on and off- but the screen remains black. I tried methods such as holding the the Shift key while rebooting, and holding down Command + Opt + P + R to reset the PRAM / VNRAM, yet the screen remains black. Any ideas on what I did during the repair that made my screen stay black?

Thank you

It sounds to me that the LCD connector is either damaged or not inserted properly, please open mac back up and check all connectors.

Did the water affect the logic board? Is there any corrosion on the logic board anywhere?

If so you will need to clean the logic board up,

To do this remove the logic board and with a new soft toothbrush clean the mother board with isopropyl alcohol.

Then re assemble and check to see if the display is working.

Okay unplugged and re-plugged the LCD flex cable and it seems to be working. However I removed the bracket that holds the flex cable and mic down because it looked like it was squishing the cable a lot. Is it safe to keep this bracket off for now? I don't want to re-attach it and have my LCD cable mess up again.

It is safe to leave the bracket off, it will not do any harm. I'm glad you mac is working now.

If you have any other trouble let me know and I will try and help.

I have the same problem. I tried to replace my keyboard on my 2012 A1286 15 inch and got stuck as I discovered the screws on the wifi bracket above the DVD drive were damaged. I could not get them out so I reassembled the macbook. The screen did not turn on, so I opened it up and checked the Dlvs cable, I unplugged it and plugged it back in, but still no screen working. I equally tried the control shift option keys.

does this mean my cable is damaged? or could there be some debris on the connectors? The MB was very dusty when I opened it and I gently removed the dust by hovering the vacuum cleaner over it. I equally used a super soft brush ( make up) to brush.

What are my options now?
