Replaced iPhone 4s battery, still drains just as fast as before.

I bought all the right parts, and replaced the battery and it turned on and works correctly and charges fine. No water damage and minimal dropping damage. Nothing is cracked.

But it does not hold a better charge with the new battery. I put the back light on low, shut off all apps I am not using, have manual data retrieval on, turn off wifi when I'm not using it, etc. All the battery tricks of the trade.

Is this because of IOS 7? Or is there a different problem with my phone? Is there a certain charging pattern I should follow? (Let it die completely then charge? Charge at 50%, etc?)

iOS 7 does take it's toll on iPhone 4S. Which is still on the a5 chip so it works a bit harder then the new 5s with the 64 bit architecture which efficiently handles iOS 7 better. But I seem to have longer life if I let battery completely die the recharge it ,, don't interrupt the charging either so let it die completely then charge it up. Maybe adjust brightness settings to help preserve some battery life.

Got my iPhone battery replaced at a proper repair joint, the new battery drains to 40% and shuts the phone off, plug it back to recharge and it says 45% until it repeats the process again, battery does not drain completely or doesn't get the chance to. Please advise ?

Defective battery, unfortunately to solve this problem you will need to get the battery replaced again.

You should take it back to where you got it replaced from for a replacement.
