Wet iPhone 5 that worked for a day, then stopped working.
Hello, I dropped my phone in the toilet then took it out after few seconds. Dried it, charged it that night, and the next day (for a whole day), my iPhone 5 worked perfectly fine with no damages.
However, after the day ended, I tried to charge my phone and the white apple logo would flash. I tried to restore it and it allowed me to restore through iTunes, however my macbook died in the middle and ever since then, my iPhone won't even let me restore.
I took it to an apple store today and the technician told me that my iPhone has water residue on the battery as well as a white square part (I don't know what it's called).
I took my sim card out of my iPhone (but not the battery) and decided to put it in rice, along with my iPhone. Do you think it will be a big problem that I didn't put it in rice right after my phone got wet?
What do you think I should do?

I lost my iPhone outside and found it after 9 days it had been rained on at least 3 times, I had a tempered glass cover on the screen and it was in an open front magpul case. It had moisture in the case when I found it and condensation was visible in the camera lens. After removing it from the case and wiping dry I immediately stuck it in a bag of rice overnight. The next day I removed the SIM card and took a vacuum with a small nozzle and vacuumed all the orifice / openings of the phone for quite awhile at least 30 minutes which cleared the condensation from the camera lens. I reinserted the SIM card and then stuck it back in the rice for 4 more days before charging it and powering it up, low and behold I got lucky and it works good as new !!!!!! :)

I'm unsure if the rice and vacuum trick is permanent as my iPhone worked great for 3 months after I dried it out then the lcd started going dim and couldn't be adjusted, it was so bad it was all but impossible to see it when outside. It still works but I feared it was dying so I bought a new phone. Good Luck hey it's worth a try go for it, you have nothing to lose.

The rice bag definitely works. I dropped my iphone5s in a bucket of water but within few seconds I took it out, switched it off and removed the sim. I dried it with a cloth first and put in in a rice bag and kept it for two full days. I was excited and surprised to see that it had drained the water completely. So yes it definitely works based on how quickly you can put it in the rice bag.
