How to update ios4.1 to 6.1 guide
I am currently an using iPhone 3gs, and I am very limited in what I can do with the phone because of iOS 4.1. If someone can please guide me how to update it to iOS 6.1

I see no reason listed in your question as to why you cannot just plug it into iTunes and push the button that says Update.....it will download the newest update available for the phone and install it. It will even ask you to backup first so you wont risk loosing anything. Should be very simple.
