Is it possible to replace the optical drive with a SSD?

Hello.

My MacBook is the 2.0 GHz Core Duo black version.

I have searched online but not found any answers regarding the Core Duo MacBooks. If possible what should I keep in mind before buying the SSD to make sure it will be compatible? I would need an enclosure for the SSD, any ideas on where to get those? I have searched these two websites but am still not sure if this process works for Core Duo MacBooks:

http://www.macsales.com/ - They don't seem to offer any solutions for older MacBooks

http://www.mcetech.com/ - They offer enclosures for the black and white MacBooks, which according to them includes an ATA - SATA adapter.

Has anyone tried this??

Regards, Kolbeinn

Since you've given a very generic identification of your laptop (on the order of 6 different machines fit that minimum description) I'll give you a generic answer: YES - provided you purchase a kit, and not try to cobble one together.

Thank you for your answer machead3, but my MacBooks processor is a "Core Duo" not "Core 2 Duo". I think there are only two MacBooks that fit my description and the only difference is the color :p

I have received information from http://www.mcetech.com/ that their enclosures are compatible with my computer so I don't have to cobble one together myself ;)
