My problem is similar to some others I've read, but it only does it if there is a game inserted. As long as there isn't a game inserted it stays on and you can go thru all the menus. I've even updated it while no game was inserted. When I insert a game and it blinks off. Any suggestions?

my friend had the same problem... i think she took the battery out... try checking if the power button is jammed down... try taking the game out and blowing on it... also try blowing in the game inserter (holder)... if this doesnt work try putting it in rice... good luck

I decided to take it apart. What I found was that the pins for the game cartridge were crossed and later found out that my son had tried to insert someone else's 3D game in his DSi. I was able to straighten them with a very small screwdriver. It's working fine for now.
