MacBook Pro not powering on, Magsafe LED not lit.

Macbook Pro 15 inch mid 2010 - model A1286

Laptop was in use when the fans spun high and the laptop blinked off. No longer powers on, thermal compound replaced every year, dust removed from heat sinks every 6 months.

No longer powers on means no longer powers on. questions about OS or does it boot to such and such are irrelevant and off topic to case in point. that being said, the battery has died of old age, shows the 5 seconds blink pattern for the first led in the battery indicator.(battery has been chemically dead for 5 months)

PMC reset does nothing(would not expect it to since the battery is dead)

when the poweradapter head is removed from the port, the battery indicator light performs the dead battery 5 second blinking. plugging the head back in results in no reaction.

the magsafe amber/green led's do nothing, they dont light up - no reaction.

with the magsafe head plugged into the power port, the dc board pins read 16.6V

a direct voltometer reading from the magsafe head reads .4v instead of 6.86v.

readings were taken following the pinout from pinouts.ru/Power/magsafe_power_pinout.shtml

i do not have another macbook to test components with, i do not have another magsafe to perform tests with. the only way i can get a magsafe is buying one.

having such an abnormal reading from a no-load magsafe would indicate the answer right? if the magsafe has blown, what are the chances that the surge into the mac didnt damage something else as well?

i need confirmation that the symptoms are what i think they are, a blown magsafe.

The magsafe in question is the original that came with the macbook. the magsafe supplies 16v-18v. model is A1343

Everything you said indicates a dead MagSafe adapter. If you know the battery is gone I'd replace it too.
