2 when we turn the tv on, after awhile the screen goes black
The tv screen goes black so we have sound but no picture

Model No. LN40A650A1F Samsung LCD, it may have been caused by a power surge. screen would take a minute to warm up before it would show up. Problem progressed in length and it wont come on now.

try with your control press the p.mode button and leave it at normal. It worked for mine I had the same problem but I had it set in dynamic.

What is the model number one the TV? Could be a deflection board as well as backlight FET or transformer problems.
