I cant hear any sound effects

I too still use my SNES. Its beast!

First you need to start with the rf switch. Are any wires pinched? If so then we have a problem. Also are you connecting the rf switch directly to the TV or are you connecting to a 300 ohm transformer? (Little tube with two wires connected to VHF on the back of the TV). If youre connecting to the transformer, then you cannot cut the wires and twist them on the back of the TV screws.

To keep things simple you must be sure that your TV channel 4 or 3 matches the SNES output switch. There is a switch on the back of the SNES that selects channel 3 or 4 output. If you have channel 3 selected then your TV must be on channel 3. Same for channel 4. This is in case you have interference near by on either channel. If your TV is very old then you will have to use the fine tune knob to get your sound back.

One last thing to try is to put the SNES on and turn the TV on and then off. This worked on an old TV that I had this same problem with. I hope this information will help.

If all else fails then go to ebay and pick up one of those SNES RCA adapters. The picture and sound quality is way better.
