hard drive replacement iMac A1173

Check your model and EMC # on the bottom of your stand as the A1173 is an Intel machine. Your model need not be worried about the thermal sensors. Those machines didn't start till 2009. Just make sure the drive you get can be jumpered back to 1.5 Gb/s in speed.

Thansk for your reply Mayer. While I will check the bottom for model and EMC# (I will post again as soon as I can get it), could you tell me how to jumper the hard drive back to 1.5 Gb/s? Also would model and EMC# impact the type of drive I can use?

The old drive had a temp sensor glued on it...can I just just glue that back on the new drive in similar position?

I am looking forward to completing this fix and having my computer back to life!
