Transferring of ribbon cable from optical drive.

Right now I am thinking of replacing the optical drive on my MacBook Core Duo 13" 2GHz computer. When I read the description of the new optical drive online, it said that it does not come with a ribbon cable or mounting bracket. However it did suggest that the ribbon cable and mounting bracket can easily be transfered from existing optical drive. I want to know, what exactly are you supposed to do to transfer the ribbon cable properly? What tools are required to do it? Is it something easy to do or does it require a lot of skill and expertise?

Once you have accessed the optical drive, transferring the cable is very easy. You just do steps 24 and 25 here in reverse.

Go for it!

So your saying just slide the cable in and restick the tape? Tape does not usually stick as easily once its peeled. Is there a thing that snaps with the cable or do you slide it in? How exactly does the cable connect to the drive without snapping something on the inside?

It works fine without the tape, or use ordinary cellatape.
