Can I put a 900MHz Motherboard in my 600MHzG3 iBook
I have a G3 600MHz iBook with the video chip problem and instead of fixing it I would like to just replace the whole board with one from a G3 900MHz iBook. Is this possible?

It depends on which version of 600 MHz iBook G3 12" you have. If you check the bottom of the machine, the model number is in the small print near the hinges. If you have the A1005 version, you can use the 900 MHz board in your machine. If you have the M6497 version, it's not directly compatible, and you would have to change some other parts.
What's the verdict on the model number?

Sorry I forgot to say it's a 14" model. I don't have pictures of the one inside I'm using it right now with the paper shim trick and the model number on the bottom is wore off. Here is the info I have,
Machine Name: iBook
Machine Model: PowerBook4,2
CPU Type: PowerPC 750 (33.11)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 600 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
Memory: 640 MB
Bus Speed: 100 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.3.2f1
Serial Number: UV2030ECL2V
oops, I'm sorry! I assumed it was a 12." My bad. Unfortunately, I don't have those boards at my disposal to verify, so I'll have to let someone else answer! Sorry!
