Sound is distorted
I hear crackling noises, or the sound coming from the device isn't clear.
Bad Bluetooth connection
Bluetooth is a radio technology that is sensitive to objects between the Jabra Speak 510 and the connected device. Ensure the Jabra Speak 510 and the connected device are within range (up to 100 meters or 300 feet) and there are no obstacles blocking the bluetooth connection.
Dirt in the speaker
There might be some dust particles in the speaker, so you will need to clean the front plate of the device. If the sound distortion continues, open the device and take the speaker out to clean the actual speaker more intricately. (See Guide)
Unconnected or frayed wire
Open the device and make sure that all of the wires between the speaker and the motherboard are connected. (See Guide) for accessing motherboard. Also, make sure that there is no fraying of the wires. If the wires are disconnected, simply reconnect them if possible. Otherwise, the wires will need to be replaced.
Lights but no sound
The device is on, but there is no sound coming from the speaker.
Volume is set too low
Increase the volume by turning up by pressing the "+". The volume level is indicated by the white lights around the speaker.
Not connected
Make sure that the Jabra Speak 510 is connected to another device.
Speaker is disconnected
Open the device and check to make sure all of the wires that run from the speaker to the motherboard are connected and not frayed. (See Guide) for accessing the motherboard.
Bad speaker
The magnet on the speaker may need to be replaced, so you will need to open up the device and take out the speaker to check the magnet’s condition. (See Guide) for accessing the motherboard.
Bluetooth connection problems
I am having trouble connecting the Jabra Speak 510 to another device via Bluetooth
Device not connected correctly
Check your mobile device’s Bluetooth menu and delete/forget the Jabra Speak 510. Re-connect the Jabra Speak 510 to your Bluetooth device. If not using Bluetooth, make sure your device recognizing the Jabra Speak 510 through USB.
Bad motherboard
The Bluetooth module of the device may be malfunctioning, which means a motherboard replacement may be necessary.(See Guide)
Device won't turn on
The device doesn't show any signs of life or power
Battery is dead
The device may need to be charged via USB. If that doesn't work, the battery needs to be replaced. (See Guide)
Battery is bad
The battery could be drained of all life and will not respond to the charger at all. In this case, a replacement may be necessary. (See Guide)
Battery is not properly connected
The battery might have become disconnected from the device. You will need to open the device and remove the motherboard to see if the battery is properly secured. (See Guide)
Broken power button
The power button might not be connected to the motherboard anymore. In this case, you will need to open the device and reconnect it to the motherboard. (See Guide) for accessing the motherboard.
Bad charging cable
The charging cable may be frayed, which would require you to purchase a new device. The charging cable is attached and cannot be replaced.
Charger head is broken
The USB head of the charger may be bent out of shape or bad. You can attempt to bend it back. Otherwise the motherboard may be bad, and need replaced. (See Guide)
Lights don't turn on
One or more of the lights is not lighting up
Battery is dead
The lights may not respond because the battery is dead. In this case, the device just needs to be charged. If that doesn't work, the battery needs to be replaced. (See Guide)
Bulb is out
One of the bulbs might be out. Open the device to replace the motherboard with a new, functioning one. (See Guide)
Update failed - speaker is not turning on
Speaker is not responding, not visible in Jabra Direct
There is an instruction from Jabra support:
''Please uninstall the current version of Jabra Direct and install the version from https://www.jabra.com/_/media/Jabra_VXi_...
Once done I’d like to try a manual firmware update please. To do that please follow these steps 1) Ensure the headset is plugged directly into your PC, not through a docking station or hub.
2) Download the latest firmware from https://www.jabra.com/supportpages/jabra... (this may be the same version you are currently using)
3) Access the Update from file button by Pressing and holding CTRL + Shift + U, or open the Firmware updater from your Windows start menu or in the SDK folder of the Jabra Direct in your Program Files folder.
4) Select update from file and provide the firmware downloaded.
5) Proceed with the firmware update as before
6) Allow process to run its course, unit should reboot and begin working as expected.

My Jabra direct firmware update on Jabra 510 failed. Prior to update my Jabra 510 kept showing USB power surge in any Windows machine I connected.
Now my Jabra 510 is dead and switch on and the lights blinks and goes back to power off mode.

I got a hold of Jabra Support. Turns out the device is stuck in update mode. Jabra Direct software had to be uninstalled and then customer support directed me to an older software version that they uploaded to download.com . There were 3-4 more detailed steps after this, but all in all was fixed in under 30 minutes. Since they had to provide access to the file, you’ll have to call customer support for resolution.

please make a f****** driver to the %#*@ speaker, Connected via usb, every IT employee in our office has one of the 510’s and connected Via USB. They are all crackling, distorted media play when it goes to the %#*@ “Resting mode” we can call it, when it tried to wake up because you clicked on a video, 75%-90% instances it cracks/distorts, it’s officially a meme now.

I have a crackling problem on both USB and Bluetooth. Crackles on USB, on bluetooth you simply lose the sound for a few seconds.

Call Jabra support. They had me run C:\Program Files (x86)\Jabra\SDKFirmwareUpdater\JabraFwUpdater.exe and manually update from dfu file. Works great now.

Legend, that helped a lot! My Jabra got bricked during the firmware update.

Ran a firmware update and now my Jabra 510 is unresponsive, will turn on for about one second with a purple light, then turns off and I cannot connect to it to force an update. Is there any way to reset it?
Nigel Street - 返信
I finally figured out how to follow Rupesh’s steps. Downloaded the firmware update file from the 510 support page, unzipped it. Ran the JabraFwUpdater.exe file from the Jabra Programs file and it picked up the unzipped DFU file and installed it. The Jabra software now recognises the device when it is plugged in. Hopefully it works. Not the easiest process, but it looks OK now

I just updated the firmware on my Jabra to 2.31.0 (was 2.25.0). Since the update when I play a podcast via bluetooth from my iPhone the sound crackles and breaks up. Phone calls are fine, and Skype/Teams meetings from my laptop are also fine. How do I resolve this?

While connected to my laptop with the USB cord, I occasionally hear a cackling sound which temporarily disables the sound on the device. What’s the fix for this?

I have observed more for my crackling problem by watching what the system is doing via ‘process explorer’. Now I suspect that in my case it is not the problem of the speaker, but rather the laptop. Somoehow the ‘bus’ that the USB is connected to got too busy which caused the loss of data to the speaker. No proof, just my ‘analysis’.

My Jabra 510 has 3 green lights on full time....connect, off, disconnect button all at the bottom of the device. Whether I'm using the device or not...those 3 lights stay in green. I believe when I disconnected it should show only the Off button light which I believe will be white.
Any suggestions to correct settings? Thanks!

My Jabra Speak 510 buttons stopped functioning. They are all off and nothing happens when I touch them. However, when I connect it to my laptop, Jabra direct recognizes the device and sounds broadcasts from it. I also checked the firmware and it's the latest. Please help!

Turns on and instantly off again.
When i start my Speaker the white led over the power button is on and from the top, the ring of LEDs starts forming, and goes to the power LED which stays on for about a second, then is out again. If I try to hold the power button, the device forms the LED ring to the power button and back and is off again... No other buttons do anything while it performs the ring and nothing is responding afterwards and the device is off one second after...
I opened it up and looked for loose cabels, checked the batteries, which are fine both and looked for clues, which there are none.
Did anyone experience similar problems?
