UPDATE: DOA: graphics card was to blame. Replaced it. Have flashed back the original Dell firmware to the old (brand new) one and have logged and RMA on it. Mac working perfectly now except for the backlight dropping out. Will replace the 4 capacitors on the back of the backlight driver board to solve this issue. Case closed
続きを読むWas your Mac functioning OK except for a weak battery before you replaced it? Can you power the laptop on with the battery disconnected?
続きを読むThe cost of such an adapter would make it not worthwhile. The resolution of the display is only 1600x800. You would be better off selling the screen assembly from your MacBook Air and buying a cheap HD monitor. You would have some change left over to buy yourself a few coffees.
続きを読むAccording to your logic board serial number, The EEE code for your board indicates that it is a Mid 2012 (2.5GHz Core i5) You should be able to see 820-3115-A silkscreened on it. This board does not have have C7292. Check you are not looking at the schematic for anything else but a 820-3115. The components will be in the following area. Underside near the RAM slot. See photo
続きを読むWould someone have a schematic for this board. According to the information here, Its a case of swapping over some 0 ohm restistors from the MXM lines to the IG lines. There are a couple of pullup 1K & 1.7K resistors that need to be moved too. It looks doable. If someone can share the 820-2494-A schematic (already have the board view) then I will be able to create a guide on how to get the 9400 working and driving the display. There also may be resistors on the external DisplayPort lines that may need to be swapped also.
続きを読むHi Eugene, This is C6960, a capacitor. Its value is 1uF. It is not essential to the operation of the machine, but at the same time, there is probably a good reason for it to be there. Here is a portion of the schematic detailing that component (in yellow)
続きを読むTry running Apple Service Diagnostics on it. The correct version of ASD for a Mid 2012 is ASD 3S150. Run the EFI version of ASD first and post results Graphics problems are rare on these machines. I have seen this issue before due to mismatched Intel ME region where the BIOS had been reprogrammed with one from another machine The Intel ME region is a portion of the bootrom, is paired to the processor and gets married to the machine on first boot. Thankfully, the EFI can be reprogrammed with a working version and should resolve it
続きを読むI used one of the Dell / Alienware 2GB cards. These can still be got for under $200 on eBay. The Apple card is identical in every way except for the firmware. This is the Dell / Alienware card here Grab the Apple ROM file from here: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/?arc... Pay attention to the VRAM size and get the correct file Prepare the card by removing the Dell metal bracket that the heatsink screws into on the back of the card. You will need to transfer the bracket from the Apple card. Transfer anything else that might be needed. On the card, with the MXM connector facing downwards and the ATI chip facing you. There are 2 small black chips to the top left of the ATI chip. (one above the other) You need to flash the top one as shown You will need a way to interface with the chip on the card. I used a Raspberry Pi with a SOIC 8 clip. Install Flashrom on the rPi. Use the guide here. https://tomvanveen.eu/flashing-bios-chip-raspberry-pi/ Connect the rPi, the clip and plug it in. I have my Pi setup as...
