"Replacement sound card needed"に関する回答I bought a new sound board and it seemed to work intermittently. I’m usuing Window 7 but the laptop came with Windows 8.1 on it. I’m beginning to think it might be a Windows 7 driver compatibility issue. I’m going to install Windows 10 to find out because when I remove the drivers, then reinstall them it seems to work sometimes, but intermittently. That would seem to rule out that it is a hardware problem. If it was the sound board, I think it would stay broken, and I bought a new board too - same problem, after a few reboots. Also I bought a little USB 2.0 external sound cord if updating to Windows 10 doesn’t work. Below is the laptops sound board and it is very easy to remove. The bottom image is a new external USB sound card, if all else fails! It is only about $10.00 on Amazon. But you will have to connect it to some small speakers too. (Not pictured)
"Replacement sound card needed"に関する回答The small board is called an X555LD Board and also controls the hard drive. The Realtek sound Chip is also on this board and has died. You will need to order a new one. Price on eBay is $30-$65 for the board but if you know how to use a hot air soldering iron then the actual Realtek Chips and only a few dollars and you can do it yourself for much less. Or maybe you can take the new chip and board to a shop and get a technician to do it? There is a known issue with this model and thousands had this same issue! My belief is that the sound chip is too small to drive the speakers and heats up and eventually dies quickly? There are several revisions of this board so make sure you get the correct revision that fits your ASUS laptop. You can get to the board by removing the screws on the bottom of the laptop. With the laptop facing up and prying the silver plastic top away from the black plastic bottom section, the board is kind of "L" shaped on the bottom right hand side of the laptop. New drivers will not fix it because the chip is defective. You will need to replace that board. You can find them on eBay. there are several versions of that board so you must remove the board from you laptop and checking what version you have before ordering it.
