Answer to "2001 Mitsubishi galant relay location"We had this problem. The counter balance weight timing belt had snapped, got under the regular timing belt and caused the timing belt to jump time. Ours took out the crank sensor so no spark, but could have just as easily gone the other way. It was puzzling because the timing belt was still pulling the cam and everything looked like it was working. Replacement of the crank sensor requires pulling the timing belt, so that is how I found the problem.
