    • The motherboard on the 330s with a GTX 1050 discrete graphics card is different than the motherboard on a 330s with integrated UHD graphics. Upgrading the graphics card is not possible, unless you can get a useable motherboard from a "for parts" 330s, then (in theory) it could be possible. I have not been able to test that myself in practice.

I know this is the Lenovo Ideapad 330s, but is there a specific model name or # for this build?

I have a Lenovo Ideapad 330s -15IKB

Model Name: 81F5

Info was found on the bottom of my laptop. My 81F5 has integrated graphics. I was hoping I could buy the GTX1050 card, insert it into the motherboard on an empty slot and switch from integrated to discrete graphics, but I can see some differences in the motherboard design….

I’m just curious if you have the Specific Model Name for this build or if the lettering after 330s is something different than 15IKB.

Thanks if anyone can provide this info.

I watched your video again, I can see it says GTX 1050 on the bottom of yours clearly, and I can confirm it has a different MOBO.

I couldn’t see if it had a different Model Name though. Thanks for the video, gave me some great info I couldn’t find anywhere else!

Update: There IS an empty slot on my motherboard to ADD the GTX 1050. It is compatible with a couple AMD cards also. I can post later. The issue for anyone wanting to add a dedicated graphics card to the 330s is that you need to change the fan/heat sink for the processor so you can add the dedicated graphics card and fit the fan/heat sink for that also. It is 100% possible in theory… That and you have to actually find the parts and a compatible graphics chip you can put onto the board with heat sink / fan.

I am having one of these 330s on my desk right now. It did not want to power up, voltage on battery circuit connector was nonexistent. The 3 batteries had their 3.6V, so I replaced the pack. It worked - for about 3 hours. WIndows showed a “charging” symbol when connected to the power supply, but it did not actually charged.

Ok, second attempt, this time with more scrunity. One of the tiny chips blew off. On the board, it is numbered “05901”. The label of the chip itself is not that readable, but it seems to be the same as it’s neighbour: “L8 VUF 2T1F03”.

You can say that the board is garbage now, but I’d like to try to replace that chip. Problem is, I can’t find absolutely nothing about it. Does anybody has an idea what that thing is and how I could get a spare part?
