I was trying to add a second (HDD) drive to a mac with an SSD drive and upgrade memory.

I used the iFixit iOS app and a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSA65Mjf... . The video had some better angles in some cases for example, which way to pull on the wires and great explanations.I also thought that the disassembly was a slightly better procedure and more convenient. Both will work of course but the combination gave me confidence.

Adding the drive and memory are the easy part. Getting the machine apart and back together is the challenge. Apple has built the machines with extremely tight tolerances so things have to fit "exactly" right. But other than time and patience it was fine.

My advice. take your time, have plenty of room to work and keep organized. Lots of pieces to keep track of and you need to know which screw goes where.
